ESCA Level — Sub-millimetre Water Level Sensor
A water level sensor for open channels, measuring with sub-millimetre resolution and reporting remotely from the field.
Overview
ESCA Level is our own sensor product for measuring the water level in open channels with sub-millimetre resolution, designed to sit outdoors and report continuously without someone going out to read it.
Challenge
Level measurement in irrigation and hydraulic channels is often either coarse, manual, or both. Small level differences carry real meaning in these systems — for distribution, for scheduling, for detecting a blockage or a leak — but the resolution needed to see them is not what a typical float or coarse ultrasonic installation provides, and field conditions punish equipment that was designed for a tank indoors.
Solution
We designed the measurement chain, electronics, firmware and enclosure ourselves, specifically for the field: sub-millimetre resolution on the level reading, an enclosure and mounting intended for outdoor channel conditions, and remote telemetry so the data arrives without a site visit. Because the whole stack is ours, the output format and reporting interval can be adapted to whatever system consumes the data.
Outcome
The sensor makes level changes visible at a resolution that supports real decisions about water distribution and channel behaviour, with continuous remote readings replacing periodic manual checks.
